Pastor David Hay

Thanks for dropping in to check us out. I know staff pics are supposed to be of a serious dude with his most professional side showing…but that’s not really me. I chose this one because I think it gives a much clearer sense of who I really am.

Yup, I looooove to fish. Why that picture though? Because that’s more me; I’m just a regular guy, that God, by His amazing and wonderful grace, has seen fit to use in the role of Pastor to serve the church family here at FCC.

Pastors can sometimes find it difficult to avoid being distanced from those they serve. Peter’s words in 1 Peter 5:2 have really spoken to my heart on how to work against that:

"Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God."

The church is God’s flock, His son is the Shepherd – the Pastor – of FCC church. I serve the church by caring for them, but they’re His church, His flock, His family. So I approach pastoring from a "brother-first" mentality: I am first and foremost a brother to anyone else in God’s family, and then I serve in my role as a Pastor to those God has entrusted to my care.

Really, my role is to lead people to Jesus, THE head Pastor of FCC. Because of that, I encourage people here at FCC to just call me "Dave" without the "Pastor" title. My heavenly Father continues to teach me how to be a Pastor who is a "family guy" first, eager to serve my brothers and sisters in the faith in the role I have as a Pastor.

A bit of stuff for the bio: I’ve been married to my beautiful and amazing best friend, Sarah, since 1994 and the Lord has graced us with 5 children – bookend boys with 3 girls in between, who are all adults now – and one grandson. I’ve been involved in church ministry leadership in differing roles from the time I was 18 years old. Since 1999 I’ve served as a Pastor – 3 years as an Associate Pastor, 5 years as a house church Pastor, and starting back in May of 2008, I’ve had the joy and privilege of serving FCC as one of its Pastors.

You can get a bit more of a sense of who I am by listening to our Sunday messages, but the best way, of course, is to drop by and join us for one of our gatherings. I’d love to meet you.

Under such grace,

David
